Chesapeake Public Safety Headquarters

As a consultant to RRMM Architects, Tecton provided programming, a feasibility study, and the design of the 125,500 sf Public Safety Headquarters for the City of Chesapeake, Virginia. The new facility will house the police and fire department administrative functions as well as the Emergency Dispatch Center and Emergency Operations Center. The building includes a 500-car parking garage and is planned to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
The headquarters building was designed to adapt to the ever-changing public safety environment. Multi-functional spaces accommodate in-service training needs for each of the agencies yet hold the ability to be transformed into office, bunk, and meeting space to support the EOC during activation. The building design allows the flexibility needed for variations in building use that occur during both normal and emergency operations.
