Tecton’s design of the Public Safety Headquarters on the main campus of the University of Connecticut (UCONN) incorporates several key factors that determined both the grand scale of the facility and the flow of traffic. The building was sited to provide a circular traffic flow allowing for drive-through capability for the ambulance and ladder trucks -- necessary for the high-rise dormitories. The Public Safety Headquarters houses a Training Center and Dispatch Center along with shared areas such as the Exercise Room with attendant locker facilities. UCONN’s Public Safety Headquarters services the campus and local neighborhoods.
